Historically, major Moroccan cities witnessed the widespread presence of seasonal markets within their urban cores. Over time, however, these souks began to decline in number, giving way to the emergence and proliferation of modern commercial centers. Nevertheless, many seasonal souks have persisted, largely due to the continuity of events or religious occasions that dictate their temporal occurrence. Against this backdrop, the "Bab Aghmat Cemetery Souk" emerges as a deeply rooted seasonal souk, closely linked to one of the oldest cemeteries in the city of Marrakesh. It is also intertwined with a set of customs and traditions that segments of Marrakshi society have long sought to preserve particularly during visits to burial grounds on significant religious occasions, such as the morning of the 27th day of Ramadan and the 10th day of Muharram. This research paper aims to analyze the findings of a field study conducted at the Bab Aghmat Cemetery Souk in order to highlight its significance and defining features. It further identifies the factors that have granted it distinction at both local and national levels elements that have fostered vibrant commercial activity by attracting merchants from within and beyond the city, drawing large numbers of visitors and non-visitors alike, and establishing a diversity of commercial practices. Additionally, the study documents certain social phenomena associated with the market’s operation
