Abstract

This review segment was focused to provide comprehensive insights on the scientific disclosures related to the synthesis of Rabeprazole-sodium (Rbz-Na) and its close resemblance scaffolds. The prior arts pertaining to the synthesis and isolation of Rabeprazole (Rbz) were collected from various scientific repositories using different search terms and sorted them as per yearly chronology for an intense analysis. Every disclosure was critically examined and the vital components were narrated systematically in this article with re-framed reaction schemes for a better readability. Under the context, filed patents and published journal articles were reviewed and its contents were tabulated for an easy access in this article. The pharmacological importance of Rbz had motivated the researchers to provide some commercially viable processes for its large scale manufacturing. Interestingly, biotechnological and continuous flow processes to synthesize Rbz were also disclosed by a few teams with success. This initiative can be a useful content for the up-next researchers to contribute new pathways to synthesize Rbz and its metal salts.
