Abstract

Some metal complex of seven new N-alkyled pyrazolyl derivatives L1-L7 were examined for their catalytic properties in oxidation of catechol substrate to quinone with dioxygen at ambient condition. The metal complexes are generated in-situ and give the variable oxidation rates, varying from a high of 20.7791μmol L-1 min-1 for the L7[Cu(CH3CO2)2] complex to a weaker rate of 0.0052 μmol L-1 min-1 for L3[ZnCl2]. The effect of several parameters such as (ligand, salt, substrate) concentrations and solvent nature toward oxidation rate is reported. The use of THF solvent leads to more rapid dissociation of catechol-Cat system and therefore the regeneration of catalyst.
