Description Abstract The Qur’an tells us that the people of Lot defied their Prophet, So God punished them by the collapse in their region, and covered the place of perdition (the Dead Sea) with Enormous quantities of stones, God says: "And The overturned Town he hurled down. And covered it by that which he covered" (The Star / 53-54).
Modern geological studies have shown that the Dead Sea area is a Grabben linked to collapse movement (And The overturned Town he hurled down); and that the Dead Sea is a group of basins formed in a special tectonic system (Strike Slipe Fault + Normal Faults + Pull apart basins), It is characterized by a set of sedimentary peculiarities, the most important are: a very important thickness of the sedimentary series; and a Very high deposition rate which was estimated in the southern basin of the Dead Sea to 5m/1000 year (And covered it by that which he covered). This confirms previously Qur’an reference to the geological nature of the Dead Sea in a few and precise words and an eloquent Phrase.
