Economic and social impact of the new agricultural perimeter of Meski-Boudnib
Résumé
The Meski-Boudnib palm plantations are characterized by agricultural extension, thanks to the availability of the renewable water resources from the Senonian aquifer. With the depletion of the quaternary aquifer, due to prolonged droughts, farmers resort to pumping from the groundwater to meet the water needs of crops, in particular, the date palm.
After the launching of the Kaddoussa dam, a volume of 33 Mm3 / year will be allowed for this new perimeter. This will lead to ease the pressure on the aquifers.
The objectif of this work is to assess the economic profitability of the Kaddoussa dam and demonstrate its economic and social impacts on Meski-Boudnib new perimeter.
With the contribution of the Kaddoussa dam, the Internal Rate of Return has changed, which shows that this project is economically profitable.
