The multi-criteria approach based on GIS for the selection of potential sites for gravel pits in rivers in the Guir, Ziz, Rhéris and Maïder basins (South-East Morocco)

Résumé


The region of the Guir-Ziz-Rheris and Maider basins is in full development, which requires the construction of several infrastructures in addition to the extension of the cities and centres of this region. This development requires large quantities of construction materials.

The aim of this work is to use a multi-criteria GIS-based approach for the selection of potential sites for gravel pits in rivers within the Guir, Ziz, Rhéris and Maïder basins (South-East Morocco).

This approach identified 24 suitable sites for gravel pits and prioritised them for low environmental and neighbourhood impact.
