The contribution of GIS in the organization of the flow in the catchments of the Oued Fez and Mikkes
Résumé
In Morocco, surface water and groundwater constitute an important resource. In the last years, this resource has known a big decrease due to the increasing of user pressure and the effects of climate change. The catchments of Oueds Fez (879 km²) and Mikkes (1513 km²) are part of the plaine The Saïs, which considers itself one of the most important agricultural areas in Morocco. which drains from the Middle Atlas to the pre-rif mountain ridges across the Saïs plateau. In this context, for the best rational management of water resources, it is first necessary to know the situation of this water resource in the study area, based on hydrometric measurements on the ground (point by point gauging), then we will use a geographical information system to fully understand the situation of water resources in this region. The methodology adopted consists in collecting various types of data, this database has been set up on a geographic information system to produce spatial maps and hydrological yield maps. The use of new technologies is an important tool for decision-making in water resource management.
