Farmers from the Oriental High Atlas of morocco and the ingenious experience in soil defense and restoration : The case of the Aghbalau N'kerdous oasis agricultural terraces
Résumé
The accidental geomorphology of space combined with the scarcity of useful soils led farmers in Aghbalau N'Kerdouss commune to implement adapted practices in their search for cultivated soils. A thing that allowed them to acquire authentic technical knowledge reflected in effective ways in the defense, restoration and enhancement of soils in plots. The scarcity of arable soils in the face of a relative abundance of water resources has led the local peasantry to make colossal efforts in the defense and restoration of cultivated plots on difficult slopes. This is exercised on contour lines across slopes, more or less acute. To do this, the farmer invented this technique of agricultural terraces associated with a two-layered agriculture. (i) - The fruit tree especially on the edges of plots, (ii) - a subculture (market gardening, cereals, fodder ...). The main objectives of this communication are: (i) - highlighting this engineering experience by providing a scientific perspective. (ii) - Contribute, through this research, to its popularization and encouragement of the different actors (State, NGO, Organizations, researchers ...) to its valorization as a good practice of the defense and the restoration of the grounds in the high Eastern Atlas of the Morocco.
