Résumé

The debate on ODA dependency in sub-Saharan African countries is not a new issue. The
objective of this paperis to define a threshold of ODA dependence for West African countries.
Using a study period from 1980 to 2017 and data from the World Bank, the econometric
analysis was carried out using a Panel Thre shold Regression model introduced by Hansen
(1999) and developed by Wang (2015). The results conclude the existence of an optimal
dependency threshold of about 11.20% of GDP. These results constitute an important
contribution to the ODA literature. A study taking in to account the definition of this thre
shold will allow us to classify West African countries by degree of dependence.
