Hanae GHAILAN

Résumé

The talk about the use of machine translation (MT) in teaching Arabic as a foreign
language derives its merit from the great interest that has received the position of the Arabic
language in the machine translation community over the past decade. Indeed, the Arabic
language is the fifth most spoken language in the world and the demand for learning it from
non-native speakers has been increasing in recent years. This led to the development of
strategies and means of learning and teaching the Arabic language in light of contemporary
scientific standards, and in line with the scientific and technical development and the
requirements of the times. In this paper, we focus on the role of using machine translation as a
tool in enhancing the teaching of the Arabic language as a foreign language. Therefore, this
paper touches on the positive side of this technology in terms of its contribution to improving
Arabic language learning.
