Abstract

1,2,4-triazol-1-yl-phosphonate derivatives and their fused heterocyclic ring systems are associated with a wide range of biological properties including antimicrobial [1], antiviral [2], analgesic [2], anti-inflammatory [1], and anticancer [2,3] activities. A novel, facile reaction for the synthesis of series of 5-(methylimino)-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phosphonate 3 derivatives to excellent yields has been developed from the reaction of the appropriate allophanates 2 [4] derivatives and (thio)phosphorus hydrazides 1a and or 1b [5,6] in Anhydrous Toluene and 0.2 g of APTS as catalyst under reflux. The structures of the newly synthesized products were established on the basis of spectral data (IR, 1H, 13C and 31P NMR) and elemental analyses.
