Abstract

Companies try as much as they can to survive after the disastrous effects of the crisis which the world is currently going through, as well as the actions taken nationally internationally to counteract it. This stresses the importance of the presence of a risk management process within the companies to protect them from various risks and eventually to improve their values. Nevertheless, we note that even if the companies use this process, the crisis still had negative and sometimes catastrophic consequences on them. Few empirical studies analyzed in depth risk management practices in Morocco. Therefore, we seek through this article to analyze risk management practices in Moroccan companies before the crisis in order to identify their weaknesses. Thus, we conducted an exploratory study on a sample of 39 large and medium companies in Casablanca and Rabat. Our results enabled us to detect several weaknesses regarding risk management practices in these companies. These results will contribute to a better awareness in Moroccan companies regarding improving their risk management practices to avoid new crises in the future or at least to limit their consequences.
