Abstract

PID and Fuzzy logic controllers can be used to regulate the output voltage of a
boost converter to a level suitable for domestic use. This paper presents the comparison between these two controllers in the aspect of design, implementations and simulation results using MATLAB SIMULINK. The study of each controller was done at the level of testing it robustness, by applying a variable input voltage generated by photovoltaic panels according to the critical changes of illumination and the temperature. A comparison of simulation results indicates that the fuzzy controller is good at the level of the simplicity of realization, flexibility, adaptation to the conditions of operation and the robustness in front of disturbances. The PID controller still give as acceptable results regarding dynamic accuracy and robustness.
