Résumé

The overall objective of this paper is to construct an inclusive growth index in order to identify the strategies that lead WAEMU countries towards inclusive growth. To do so, we use a statistical method of aggregation, specifically Principal Component Analysis on data drawn from the World Bank (WDI, 2021) and UNSDG (2022) data base covering the period 2000-2019. The results found show that the variables access to drinking water, access to electricity, sanitation, public spending on education, employment rate and CO2 emissions contribute the most to the inclusive growth index. In addition, the results show that Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire have the highest inclusive growth indices ; while Benin, Mali and Togo have medium inclusive growth indices and the lowest indices are recorded by Burkina Faso and Niger.
