In a context without a financial market, public institutions play an important role in terms of external control and companies’ regulation. In that perspective, this study aims to analyze the influence of the quality of institutions on the economic, social and commercial performance of 105 companies, observed between 2003 and 2008. The data used derived from the National Institute of Statistics of Cameroon and are treated by a panel data regression. finally, this research concludes that tax pressure, investment subsidies and access to bank financing by the State are negatively correlated with economic, social and commercial performance. Similarly, the operating subsidy is positively associated with performance. This research concludes with a mixed influence of public institutions on Cameroonian companies.
