Peer Review Process

The decision to accept an article is based primarily on its scientific content. However, poor drafting or poor presentation can cause a manuscript to be rejected.

Any manuscript sent to AFRIMED is subject to a blind evaluation by two reviewers (or more, depending on the theme) who judge, on the basis of a pre-established grid, the quality of the submitted text.

Reviewers should assess manuscripts, within a maximum of 3 weeks, based on the merit of their contribution to the field of study and intellectual content. They must be objective in their criticism, leave aside any personal criticism of the author or his research group, and support their opinions with clearly stated arguments. If there is a similarity between the manuscript under review and any other published work, reviewers should report this to the editor in chief of the journal. In the event that a reviewer exceeds the time allocated to review the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to submit the manuscript in question to another reviewer.

The evaluation reports produced by reviewers help authors to improve their manuscripts and the editor in chief to make an editorial decision on the manuscript. Thus the submitted manuscript may be accepted without reservation, or accepted subject to minor/major modification or rejected. The responsibility for publishing or rejecting an article rest with the journal editor in chief who can also consult the associate editor to make this decision. The editorial staff reserves the right to plan the insertion of approved and corrected manuscripts as they see fit. Once published, a manuscript automatically becomes the property of INRA and its reproduction in any form whatsoever is subject to its authorization.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public facilitates a greater exchange of knowledge, worldwide.
